Teaching Kids to Read Big Words

Once children acquire basic decoding skills, they often hit a roadblock as words become longer and more complex.  Learning to read big words takes more than basic decoding skills.  It requires understanding of syllables and morphemes, along with the ability to use this understanding with mental flexibility.  This session highlights the knowledge and skills kids need to read big words and methods for teaching these things effectively.
